IN BRIEF

Open Personal settings → Security to review password and authenticator options for your account. Complete credential changes yourself and keep passwords and recovery codes private.

Before you begin

Open Personal settings for your own account. Keep passwords, one-time codes, and authenticator setup information private.

Step by step

  1. Open Personal settings → Security.
  2. Review Two-factor authentication (2FA). The app describes an optional authenticator app and a six-digit code after password or Google sign-in when enabled.
  3. Follow the visible setup or recovery flow for your account. Do not give an authenticator secret or code to another agent.
  4. To change a password where this method is applicable, review the Current password, New password, and Confirm new password fields, then complete Update password yourself.
  5. If access is lost, use the sign-in recovery option or contact your administrator through an approved channel.

What to check

Your sign-in changes are completed through the appropriate account flow. This guide does not replace the identity provider’s recovery process.

Need to troubleshoot?

I use Google sign-in

Confirm which identity provider manages your credentials before attempting to change a local password.

I cannot provide an authenticator code

Use the approved recovery route. Never post a recovery code in a chat transcript or public article.
